Our Pill Box is particularly meaningful. I designed it during a difficult time in my health because I couldn’t find one that was both functional and beautiful. In early 2023, I had my ovaries removed due to BRCA II and went into immediate menopause at 35. My health became a priority, and I began taking several medications and supplements to manage the effects. I’ve never had the best memory, so if my pills aren’t visible, I forget them — and I couldn’t find anything aesthetic to keep them in. So, I made one myself. It now brings beauty and joy to my wellness routine.
At Aureum, we’re naturally drawn to brands that share our respect for detail, heritage, and lasting design. Jewelry and homeware may belong to different categories, but both have the power to shape how we live and connect. That shared approach is what first led us to LES Collection.
As we prepared for New York Fashion Week, we knew we wanted to set a table that reflected Aureum’s mood - modern, intimate, enduring. LES felt like the perfect fit. Their pieces anchored our NYFW dinner, turning a intimate setting.
Before we sat down together, we wanted to introduce you to the world of LES Interiors, and the woman behind it, Lauren Sands.
What inspired you to create LES Collection?
I founded LES out of a desire for connection and a passion for narratives. When the 2020 pandemic struck, I was eight months pregnant with my second child and gripped with anxiety. I sought solace in creation and began painting a series for my son's nursery, which I documented on social media. To my surprise, it gained traction, and I found myself enveloped in the warmth of creative friendship — a community that sprouted joy amidst the shadows.
What began as a remedy for anxiety blossomed into a romance with artistic expression. Surrounded by this new community, I found energy in discovering and sharing the stories of artists who inspired me. From this wellspring of inspiration, the vision for LES Collection emerged — a sanctuary for the creatives I admire and a way to amplify their eclectic voices.
How do you approach designing pieces that feel both timeless and functional?
I don’t love the word timeless — the best design is often rooted in a moment. Art Deco, Bauhaus, mid-century — they were all born of their time. Personal style evolves the same way: through trial, error, and curiosity. At LES, we encourage mixing, reimagining, and taking creative risks. I like design that feels lived-in, ever-evolving, soulful, and a little imperfect.
What role does heritage or tradition play in your collection?
Our dinnerware is a modern riff on tradition and a nod to my heritage. I grew up in a family that celebrated food and the ritual of gathering. My parents cared about every detail — the dishes, the flatware, the story a table could tell. That spirit lives on in LES, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens and a curiosity to blend the old with the new.
How do you see homeware and jewelry overlapping in storytelling and style?
I see homeware and jewelry as two expressions of the same language. Both are deeply personal forms of storytelling, each reflecting the way we see ourselves and the world around us. Developing a personal style takes time and honesty; it means embracing change, discomfort, and the unexpected. It’s about being true to what moves you, even if it’s unconventional. Both jewelry and homeware carry this intimate tension between beauty and individuality — they remind us that style is most powerful when it feels like you.
Can you share a piece that feels especially personal to you?
What does it mean to collaborate with Aureum during NYFW?
Collaborating with Aureum during NYFW feels like a natural extension of what we value at LES — connection, creativity, and the art of entertaining. Aureum shares our belief that beauty lives in the details — in the way a table is set or an outfit is completed with accessories. Their approach to design mirrors our own philosophy: thoughtful, layered, and rooted in storytelling. We love collaborating with brands that see art as a shared experience, and this partnership allowed us to celebrate that spirit together.
What do you hope people feel at a table set with LES?
Happy — and that their table reflects their sense of personal style.
What does collaboration mean to you?
For me, collecting transcends a mere acquisition of objects; it is a celebration of community and collaboration. LES Collection, born from this sacred ethos, stands as a testament to the belief that art is not a solitary endeavor but a shared expedition into the realms of imagination.
